Which Should You Choose?

• NFC is the gold standard for building patrols. Guards must physically touch the tag — they cannot scan it from across the room or from another floor. NFC tags are small, discreet, weather-resistant, and work even without internet connectivity.

• QR codes work well for budget-conscious operations and temporary sites (construction, events). They are cheaper to produce and easy to replace. The downside: a guard could photograph a QR code and scan the photo later (NFC prevents this).

• GPS is best for mobile patrol where guards move between buildings or drive patrol routes. GPS confirms the guard was in the right area, but it cannot prove they checked a specific door or stairwell.
